Kentucky Top Five Priorities
-
Remove and replace
overhead electric, phone and cable wires and poles.

Repair and/or replace
deteriorated street curbs and sidewalks in the downtown area.

Provide an improved
streetscape by adding landscaped areas to the downtown sidewalk system.

Place electric streetlights
and electric convenience outlets that return the downtown area to a turn-of-the-century
appearance and provide electricity for future downtown festivals.

Remove a dilapidated
building that appears to have no historic value.

Since entering
the Renaissance Kentucky program in the fall of 1998, the City of Stanford
has received approximately $1,000,000 in funding for downtown projects.
These projects include:

Facade improvements
-- $37,500 50/50 match.

Streetscape improvements
-- $200,000.

Direct appropriation
funds (for facade improvements) -- $62,500.

Major revitalization
(for the acquisition and restoration of a building to house indoor parking,
an antique car/auto parts and tool museum) -- $150,000 plus $100,000 (tea-21
grant).
